Avish Parashar is a left brained thinker in a right brained body. Or maybe he is a right brained thinker in a left brained body. In either case, Avish is an anamoly: a person with a strong IT and technical background who is an effective communicator, presenter, and instructor.

Avish started attending the University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 1991 with dreams of being an engineer. From that point, he began leading two parallel lives:

  • Avish is accepted to UPenn (his parents are very proud)

And then...
The Technical Route
The Creative Route
  • Avish begins as a Mechanical Engineering Major
  • After two years, he realizes the only thing about MechE he likes is the computer work, so he transfers to Computer Engineering
  • Avish graduated on time in 1995 with a BSE In Computer Engineering
  • Over the next seven years, Avish has several jobs, including working in IT support for a large Hospital, writing code for a huge Fortune 100 company, working with a small IT consulting company, and developing an entire design and website for an internet startup.
  • Freshman year, Avish joins the UPenn improv comedy group, Without a Net
  • After graduating, Avish forms the Philadelphia based improv comedy group, Polywumpus
  • For seven years, Avish serves as the artistic director and business manager of the group
  • After seven years, Avish closes up Polywumpus Improv Comedy to pursue other interests
  • Avish takes a position as facilitator and instructor with Full Circle Theater, an intergenerational improvisational theater troupe based out of Temple University
Which brings us to...
  • Avish begins his speaking and consulting business

Though very different on the surface, Avish learned that the business and IT world had a great deal in common with the creative and performing world. The same fundamental principles that led to success on an improv stage would also lead to success in a business environment. From that simple premise, Avish's speaking and consulting business was born.

While Avish is always entertaining, his work is much more than just motivation. Avish specializes in explaining complex ideas in simple ways, identifying the root causes and bottlenecks of problems, plotting out plans and strategies to get from point A to point B, and in helping people turn powerful but abstract concepts into effective and tangible action steps.
